The 2012 health survey was conducted using the online surveymonkey service. 66 alpaca owners and 13 llama owners responded, providing a surveyed population of 1401 alpacas and 151 llamas.

The survey covers areas of management (feed, parasite control, minor illnesses and injuries), pregnanacy and matings, as well as the morbidity and mortality of the animals.
